Mrs. Michelle Britton

Welcome to Indian Lane Elementary School, home of the Bobcats! I am so excited to be the principal of this outstanding school, surrounded by an amazing community and an exemplary staff. Prior to becoming the principal at Indian Lane in January of 2023, I spent twenty years in a variety of roles in the field of education. I started my career in 2003 as a special education teacher, where I enjoyed seven incredible years in the classroom before moving into a school counselor position. As a school counselor, I assisted in transitioning students from elementary school to middle school and then followed them into their freshman year of high school. This experience was incredibly valuable because it provided me with the opportunity to support the academic and developmental needs of children transitioning at almost every level of their schooling. I spent the next seven years at Springton Lake Middle School as an assistant principal. I feel so fortunate to have worked with children and families in elementary, middle, and high school throughout my many rewarding years in education.

As a parent of children with varying educational needs, I believe wholeheartedly in a collaborative approach. I have had the privilege of working with many families in this community, and I very much look forward to continuing that partnership. One of my core personal beliefs is the importance of building strong relationships. I am here to support every child, family, and staff member in our school. I believe that open communication and a strong home–school partnership are key ingredients for student success and growth.
